About Chef Dadisi
Dadisi Olutosin is a chef, culinary blogger, restaurant consultant and pop-up restaurateur located in Washington, DC. He is known for the Center Plate Supper Club pop-up dining experience and for his appearances on TV's Southern Chefs. He specialises in global comfort food with influences from the American South, the Caribbean, West Africa and Western Europe. Dadisi has been cooking since he was 10 years old, learning from his mother, grandmother and other women in his family who taught him the importance of food, family and culture.
He never considered becoming a chef until long after he decided he wanted to open his first restaurant. After spending 25 years as an entrepreneur and corporate executive in the Information Technology industry, he decided he wanted to become a chef and restaurateur. Once embarking on that path, it became apparent to him that the only way to learn the restaurant business was to start in the kitchen. During his early days in the kitchen he constantly asked himself, “what have I gotten myself into?”. This is a common refrain by many who want to open a restaurant and possibly become a chef.
However, Dadisi was up to the challenge and after working in a few DC restaurants he finally stumbled upon a chef who would train him in classic French techniques of cookery while helping him develop his own style of cuisine based on his own cultural background and understanding of food. Dadisi is an alumnus of Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA. He also enjoys family, coffee, wine, eating other peoples food, reading, writing, science fiction, comic books and various outdoors activities not necessarily in that order.
